What to Eat During Pregnancy: Go Greens!

Your midwives are encouraging you to GO GREENS during your pregnancy!

We’ve already talked about safe seafood and nuts as being a great way to get added nutrition that your baby needs for development. (If you aren’t pregnant yet, click here to get some great pointers for things to do before conceiving)

When choosing greens, go for the ones that are filled with the “brain vitality vitamins”! These include:

  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Kale
  • Chard
  • Arugula
  • Collard greens
  • Asparagus

While we’re on the topic of greens we can’t forget the amazing avocado! It’s the most nutrient-dense fruit and full of vitamins A, B, and E. It’s also full of folic acid and healthy fats.

Add sauteed spinach to some scrambled eggs with half an avocado on the side for a delicious breakfast. Put these super greens together in a salad! Put half an avocado in a smoothie with spinach and kale to have as a snack. Grill/bake some salmon and throw a big kale/spinach salad together and top with avocados and nuts. Saute some asparagus in some olive oil, and sister you have an amazing dinner!

It’s so easy to add these greens to your every day diet! How do you add them?
